Teacher Residency

Shady Hill's Teacher Residency provides aspiring teachers with well-guided experiences in Beginners (Pre-K) through Grade VIII classrooms. In one year, apprentice teachers discover what teaching is all about through observation, supervised teaching, professional development and full immersion in the life of the school. Graduates of the program are well prepared to teach in independent and public schools. Shady Hill has more than 1,900 alumni since it's founding in 1928, offering our apprentices a broad network of contacts.

The TTC has an excellent job placement record. 100% of our graduates gain employment at the completion of this alternative certification program. Graduates teach in public and independent schools in 41 states and 17 foreign countries including Brazil, France, Holland, Kenya, Spain, Japan and Egypt. Last year, 80% of our graduates were hired to teach in independent schools and 20% were hired to teach in public and charter schools.
