Lower School’s Week of Social Action at Shady Hill was all about empowering students to be changemakers in our community. Kindergarteners learned about our incredible Facilities team and how we can help care for our shared environment. Beginners in Movement practiced being thoughtful guides and caregivers. Grade I identified problems at Shady Hill, such as litter, and possible solutions. Grade II built and decorated boxes in the Makerspace to give to the senior citizens at the Cambridge Homes. Grades III and IV focused on “resetting recess” by learning to advocate for inclusion and designing new recess games with accessibility and belonging in mind. As students begin driving this work forward, we’re excited to see where their leadership leads! View more photos.
