Alumni Art Showcased at Shady Hill
The 2011 Alumni Art Show features the works of more than 20 artists, representing classes from 1945 to 2005.
More than 120 current and past parents, current and former faculty, alumni and friends attended the opening reception for this year's Alumni Art Show on Wednesday, March 30. The Assembly Hall was transformed into a stunning art gallery this year, featuring more than 100 works of art by a talented array of alumni artists. Head of School Mark Stanek welcomed the assembled guests and spoke about the importance of art in Shady Hill's curriculum. Alumni Board member Lenore Gessner Travis '63 introduced the other Alumni Board members and the artists who were present and thanked them for participating in this year's spectacular show.
The alumni artists participating in this show are Kit Eaton Dreier '45, TTC'53; Gil Murray '46; Len Clarke '52; Carl Pickhardt '54; Anne Kessler '63; Ekua Holmes '70; Thomas Loeser '71; John Segar '72; Sarah Kahn '74; Kirk Goetchius '76, TTC'86; Michael Segar '77; Andrew Anderson-Bell '78; Porter Gifford '79; Louise Harter '79; Sarina Tcherepnin '83; Nell Breyer '86; Leila Simon Hayes '92; Adam Sperling '00; Zander Taketomo '02; Katharine Maxwell '04; and Michael Rose '05.
Many of the pieces are for sale and we are grateful that the artists are donating a portion of the proceeds to Shady Hill. The show is on display in the Assembly Hall until the end of the school day on Friday, April 1.
