"The foundational experience an apprentice at Shady Hill gains
is pivotal to shaping the teachers and leaders they become. Shady Hill is where apprentices are introduced to a progressive way of teaching, thinking, and innovating. Whether we are sitting together over lunch or meeting with colleagues during a team meeting, our conversations are aout children and the multiple ways we aim to engage them.
We value the different perspectives at the table and intentionally cultivate a diverse cohort of apprentices to enrich the discussions and the practice of teaching."

- Desiree Ivey, Executive Director of Teacher Training

A Day in the Life of An Apprentice

Shady Hill's nationally known Teacher Training Course (TTC) is a graduate-level teacher-preparation program that provides aspiring teachers with well-guided experiences in pre-K through eighth-grade classrooms. In this one year, site-based program, apprentice teachers discover what teaching is all about through observation, supervised teaching, workshops, seminars, and continuous involvement in the life of the school. Some participants choose to enroll solely in the TTC, though most also participate in a partnering master's program at Lesley University
