A Powerful Black History Assembly

This year’s Black History Assembly was one of the most vibrant and powerful assemblies we’ve had so far.
The assembly started off with opening remarks from our Head of School Mark Stanek and Director of Equity and Inclusion Dr. Laniesha Gray. The audience erupted in singing as we sang Janelle Monae’s “The Power of Yet”. Then, we heard from our keynote speaker and Shady Hill Alumni Ekua Holmes '70. Students in Grades I, III, IV, VI, VIII and Beginners shared poems, songs, dances, and stories that inspired and delighted us all. It was so special to be able to gather and sing together once again.
