Grade II Participate in Factory Simulation, Strike for Fair Working Conditions

For Thematic Study, Grade II students participated in a simulation where they were factory workers, experiencing all of the highs and lows of mill life. The “workers” then decided to strike due to the working conditions they experienced in the factories. All second graders participated in a march around campus yesterday and were cheered on with the support of other classes on a beautiful, sunny day. Fellow Lower and Middle School classes walked in support, created signs, and asked the mill workers questions such as, “Why are you striking?”, “What do you hope to gain by striking?”, and “How can I support your strike?”
Those who walked, made signs, asked questions, and cheered the strikers on, thank you! The strike was a success and the owners of the factories will give workers a small raise!
