Middle Schoolers Write Letters to Senior Citizens
This week, Kim Walker and I have been working with each Middle School class through TOAD (Talks on Adolescent Development) to write cheery letters to senior citizens living in isolation during the pandemic. Through this project, we’re able to showcase the power of young people to make a difference and give students an opportunity to take action and be Changemakers!
We signed up through Letters Against Isolation which has distributed more than 80,000 letters and was started by two sisters at BB&N last spring! Our letters will be distributed through a senior meal delivery service in southern Illinois. Students worked on their letters in their gradehead class.
The goal of the project is to remind these seniors that people are thinking of them, that we care about them, they matter, they’re seen, and that we’re sending them lots of hope, joy, and love.
Thank you to our Lower School friends in IV Brewster, who participated in this project before Winter Break and made an amazing video to teach the Middle School! We appreciate our Middle School students and gradeheads for their help and participation in this project!
