Jane Hardy Receives NEPSAC Award

On Friday, November 9, Jane Hardy was presented with the 2013 New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Distinguished Service Award with NEPSAC friends and some Shady Hill fans in attendance.
Last Friday, at the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) annual meeting, longtime SHS Athletics Director Jane Hardy received the organization's 2013 Distinguished Service Award. Jane is only the fourth woman to have received the award in the nearly 30 years since it was created.

The award is presented annually to "the individual who has contributed significantly to New England Independent School Athletics and Physical Education through enthusiasm, dedication, leadership and vision."

Stephen Marks, Shady Hill's current Director of Athletics and Physical Education, nominated Jane and introduced her to the audience. He spoke both of her professional achievements and her enduring dedication to students and colleagues at Shady Hill. After his introduction — and a standing ovation by her fellow athletic directors and coaches from schools throughout New England — Jane took to the podium to say a few words and to receive her award. In her comments, Jane spoke about the important work of school athletic directors and coaches and also about the role that NEPSAC plays in their professional lives.

Jane was presented with a silver bowl to mark this achievement.
