Rites of Passage is a meaningful culmination of the sixth grade curriculum at Shady Hill. Throughout the year, students engage in a series of “bead challenges”—from memorizing all of the African countries, to contributing time to community service, to creating masks that reflect their evolving identities. Each challenge represents a deeper understanding of self and community. The ceremony is a powerful moment that honors their growth and marks the transition from childhood into adolescence. Well done, Grade VI! View more photos.
