  • BLUE CHORUS (III/IV/V/VI)

    Directed by Darin Goulet
    Rehearses in the Music Building (2nd floor) from 3:15 to 4:15 on Mondays for one or both semesters.
  • BLUE ORCHESTRA (III/IV)

    Directed by Erika Markou
    Rehearses in the Music Building (2nd floor) from 3:15 to 4:00 on Tuesdays. Students must be able to read and play music at a beginning level on their instrument.
  • SILVER ORCHESTRA (V/VI)

    Directed by Erika Markou
    Rehearses in the Music Building (2nd floor) from 3:15 to 4:25 on Mondays (note day change). Students must be able to read and play music at a beginning level on their instrument.
  • VII/VIII GOLD CHORUS

    Directed by Darin Goulet
    This ensemble meets during the school day, during the Study Hall block from 2:30-3:15 on Fridays. Some occasional after-school rehearsals may also be scheduled as needed to prepare for performances.
  • VII/VIII GOLD ORCHESTRA

    Directed by Erika Markou
    This ensemble meets during the school day, during the Study Hall block from 2:30-3:15 on Fridays. Some occasional after-school rehearsals may also be scheduled as needed to prepare for performances.
  • SILVER JAZZ BAND (V/VI)

    Directed by Pandelis Karayorgis
    Rehearses in the Jazz Room (behind the Assembly Hall) from 3:20-4:20 PM on Mondays. Students must be able to read and play music at a basic-to-proficient level to participate.
  • GOLD JAZZ BAND (VII/VIII)

    Directed by Pandelis Karayorgis
    Rehearses in the Jazz Room (behind the Assembly Hall) after school from 2:30 to 3:30 PM on Wednesdays. This group will focus on improvisational techniques and ensemble playing at a more advanced level. Students may also contribute as composers or arrangers. Students must be able to read and play music at a basic-to-proficient level to participate.

Arts Electives

In addition the above ensembles, Shady Hill offers many musical experiences via our Arts Electives program. 7th and 8th graders may be able to participate in Afro-Jazz Dance, Drama, Comedy, Hip Hop, Guitar Ensemble, Rock Band, Musical Theater Ensemble, and chamber voice or instrumental groups that meet for the duration of one trimester. (Offerings and instructors will vary from year to year.)
