Performing Arts at Shady Hill

The performing arts are a vibrant part of student life at Shady Hill. In 2012-2013, we will offer the following courses and ensembles. Please contact the director of the course Performing Arts Department Chair Darin Goulet if you have specific questions about an ensemble or how to sign up your child for involvement in the performing arts program. Grade III - VIII students are strongly encouraged to be involved and join the in school performing arts ensembles. Students in all ensembles can expect to perform at 1-2 school assemblies or other special events during the year.

All students in Grades VII and VIII will participate in a half-year Performing Arts Ensemble in 2012-2013 — Chorus, Wind Ensemble, or String Orchestra. Shady Hill will provide rental instruments as needed to students in these ensembles. In addition, students in Grade VIII have the opportunity to be involved onstage and/or backstage in the Grade VIII play. Central Subject teachers, along with music faculty, create dramatic plays and experiences in their classrooms for grades B through VII.

Shady Hill’s performing arts program seeks to teach all students to be creative and confident young musicians and performers in a multitude of musical styles. Performing is encouraged at every age and ability level.

We may also be able to connect you with off-campus private teachers of various instruments. Interested families should contact Darin Goulet (darin_goulet@shs.org).
